Legend has it that a kitchen apprentice created the Imperial Torte in honor of Emperor Franz Josef I to mark the opening of the Hotel Imperial Vienna in 1873. This event marked the birth of the superb Imperial Torte. The young scullion Xavier Loibner guarded the recipe with his life, and it has been a secret ever since. A mouthwatering chocolate icing, a slightly tart aroma of almonds and the fusion of chocolate cream and marzipan combined to make the perfect composition - every slice takes you back to imperial Vienna in 1873.
